Heeey, I didn't mention how my summer classes were going yet. FAIL!
So right now I'm taking a science fiction class and beginning drawing with the same teacher as last summer. 8D

I've read Island of Dr. Monroe, Solaris, and Lathe of Heaven in THREE WEEKS. *EYETWITCH* I dunno how English majors do it, but maybe it's because I haven't read a novel since high school. >_>... I'm starting reading Ender's Game for the second time and I STILL LOVE IT. <333 The only books I liked in high school were Lord of the Flies and Ender's Game. I guess it's because I find young characters more interesting than adults. o__o; I really really wish there was a manga or anime for Ender's Game. Aw well, for now I'm just drawing fanart for it. <333

Nothing much to say about beginning drawing class!! I think I improved from last year just a bit. I don't have this huge art-block when it comes to legs anymore! JOY! And figure drawing is as fun as ever. There was a male model named Fire-Penguin Disco Panda. And apparently, that's his real name and it's on his ID too (but he didn't have it with him, awww). I'm so glad I'm drawing males better this year! :DDDD I really want to practice on drawing male anatomy. Girls are more round and are easier to BS than guys... at least in my perspective.
But it seems like I started sucking at still life more. I wonder why. >_>;;;
I need to mooch somebody's camera so I can actually upload these online. e__e;;

Oh! Random plug. Roxanne from AX reg staff randomly suggested to me cute shoujo-ai manga. I always had a vague interest reading them because I never see them floating around but yaaay I finally found some! One of them she suggested was Sasameki Koto, and IT'S SOOOO CUTE!!! <3333 Sasameki Koto just reminded me how a lot of romance manga I read (BL manga suffers from this a lot ._.) is that it takes itself too damn seriously. I like these stories where the characters actually act silly and get flustered easily. XD

I got Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days around the beginning of June and I finally finished it... in July. >.>;; *SWEAT* Anywayyyy, it was quite a journey because I had to drag it out so dang long.
So here is my long rant about the game. With no spoilers!

GAH! Sorry for not posting for everrrrrrrrrr. I'm staffing for Registration for AX 2009! I had another awwwwesome time at AX!!! *SPARKLESPARKLE* There were some tough times where we had just 30 minute breaks and had to run back to work but it all turned out GREAT~~~

Bullet points because my entry is waaaaaaaaaaaay toooooo looooong:
Day 0:
- GOT TO SEE THE GIANT FFXIII ADS!!! WOOOOOOAHHHH!!!
- Helped make all the registration booths pretty by taping up art!
Day 1:
- LOTS OF WORK! 30-40 MINUTE BREAKS BETWEEN SHIFTS! AHHH!!
- Cosplayed as Setsuna from Gundam 00!
- Went to Kouga Yun's panel and got a picture with Kouga Yun AND the director of Gundam 00. LOL.
- Watched the not-so-amazing Gurren Lagann movie. At least the hysterical cheering made it better. XD
Day 2:
- Got an autograph from not only Kouga Yun but the Gundam 00 director and the other guy involved in Gundam 00! Yes, I suck at names.
- I GOT TO WATCH THE NEW DEAD FANTASY CLIPS ON A GIGANTIC SCREEN BEFORE THE AMV CONTEST!!!! OMGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!
Day 3:
- By pure LUCK, I passed by a booth in the exhibit hall and saw CRISPIN FREEMAN. Of course, I got his autograph~~~~~~~!!!!!!!! 8D!!
- Watched the Masquerade!!... and half of the performances were just as "meh?" as the year before. At least the intermission performances were good~
- Reg staff guys pull pranks by wearing hand-written badges into places where they check badges! Strangely enough, somebody was caught with a REAL fake badge right afterwards.
Day 4:
- Kit and I were able to privately talk with KOUGA YUN!!! WOAH.
- Got an autograph from the Gurren lagann guys and the girl who was the English voice actor for Haruko from FLCL! :D
- Got to stare at Moi dix Mois at a short distance because I was put on line duty. <3
- Sat in the Moi dix Mois table after they left with Rita and another Reg staff girl. We had way too much fun with it. XDDDD
- Reg staff's beloved red tape ball was stolen by Access Control. Ensue pointless drama between competition-obsessed males.
- Got free food and bowling at the Dead Dog celebration for AX staff~~~
- Said goodbye to the LA convention center and AX and returned to real world. ;___;!

Now going to the super-long part. o_o...

Overall, I believe this was the year of HETALIA AND VOCALOID COSPLAYERS! So many of them!!!!!!
I was very pleased to find two girls cosplaying Saikou and Shuujin from Bakuman. I spazzed so much!! XD
There were more cross-dressing males this year, or maybe I just never noticed so many. A lot of them had very hot looking legs under those frilly skirts. :DDD Heck, there was a rather fit looking male Yoko. XD I saw the same male Bridget from last year and there were several rather good-looking male Ritsuka's! And for some reason, there were many male Gintoki's. One Gintoki was veryveryvery hot. I hope next year's AX has more hawt male cosplayers. 8D *APPROVE*

I had an awesome time in AX and I reeeeally want to go next year. Hopefully I can!! This year's AX was even BETTER than the AX I had last year~~~!!!

I was randomly checking out Karakuridouji Ultimo on Mangahelpers, and I was thrilled that they had more chapters! :D So I checked them out!
...
For a shounen manga, it sure has super-blatant BL bits. Not only that, earlier Ultimo (that robot boy that looks like a girl) said he needs to make a "pact of love" with Yamato (tall guy with black hair). LOVE.
Why do I always love shounen series that are popular with fujoshi? >_>
Now what I'm wondering is how they're going to sell this to the American audience. XD Stan Lee, wtf were you thinking? Oh well, makes the fangirls happy.

... To tell you the truth, the beginning missions are reeeeally boring. I hope they pick up soon. ;o; The most painfully boring ones are when you have to "investigate" the area. This means looking at really pointless things like tiles on a road, ropes, or even piles of sand. NO JOKE. At least the story is getting interesting! I got to hang out with almost all the Organization members so far! My fave members to hang out with so far were Axel, Marluxia, and Xigbar. The other ones were kind of mean to me. >_> Vexen talked down to me like I was a dumbass, Zexion was kind of cold (and he used so much complicated kanji I did not understand one word he said), Larxene acted like a total bitch to me (figures) and Lexaeus punched me in the face so I can do a Limit break. *sob*
The scenes with Roxas and Axel are so freakishly cute, D'AWWW. <3 I'm surprised that Roxas acts like a total puppy around Axel. I wonder when they'll get sick of that darn ice cream.

I managed to do my manga presentation, Japanese presentation, report, and final, an 8-page paper, and my art project last week.
....................... wow.
Required two nights of less than 5 hours of sleep. *THUMBS UP*
Now I have a 10 page paper rough draft due Monday. But I decided to just say SCREW IT and I goofed off from Friday till today. HA HA HA HA. <-- I'm sure going to regret this

I noticed from a LOT of my art critiques so far... my pictures make no sense to strangers. orz Why can't I communicate messages that well in words OR pictures? orz orz orz
I started to think about the meaning of life of my pictures and... I've gotten to the point where I just draw pictures just for the sake of pictures. WHICH IS BAD. I sometimes make personalities and stories behind characters I draw but I don't go much farther than that. I never really fostered this feeling of putting meaning into my pictures. Once or twice, but ... I need to try harder!! If I'm going to become an animator, communicating a message is KEY. GAH!

And today, I hung out with Carlos today! We ate at Chiles (MMMM MOLTEN CHOCOLATE CAKE *DROOL* and went to Borders. I bought American Shounen Jump (GASP) because there is a manga called ULTIMO co-created by Stan Lee (THE GUY WHO MADE SPIDERMAN, WTF?) and a Japanese mangaka. I was like, THIS IS HISTORY IN THE MAKING!! XD
Edit: OH MY GOD, I looked up the manga online and the Japanese mangaka is the one who did SHAMAN KING. Wow, I couldn't tell by the style AT ALL, but it does explain the androgynous anorexic boys. >_>
That aside, our main objective was to watch the new Pixar movie Up!

OH MY GOD, I think Up is my FAVORITE Pixar movie now, next to Toy story. I cried a little in the beginning, and teared up in some other parts. ;__;!! ELLIEEEE!!! I was amazed that every single character had their own story and share of sorrow. Hell, even the antagonist! I just freakin' loved EVERYBODY! I want to get a dog and name him Dug now. XD Throughout the ENTIRE movie, I was rooting for the main characters and I probably bothered some people by my "d'awww ;__;" and "OMG OH NO!! AAHHH!!" and "AHAHAHHA XDDDD" and other such noises. Unfortunately, I got too curious about Up after I watched the trailer and I went to look at the character profiles on the website. I connected all the profiles together and I pretty much predicted 80% of the movie. :| LAST TIME I'M DOING THAT!!!
Pixar, you are one damn amazing animation company and I hope I can help create projects as amazing as yours.

Afterwards! We went to Best Buy so I can fiiiiiinally buy my own DS LITE! I got Cobalt Blue and I named it Sora. <3333 Luvluvluv. I've been playing Subarashiki Kono Sekai SO obsessively lately. I'm at the 7th day with Shiki now and I'm so completely stuck at Mr. Chef Shinigami (my nickname for him -__-). STOP KILLING ME PLZ.

SLEEP? WHAT'S THAT?

I've been playing 10 minutes of Subarashiki no Sekai every day so I can alleviate stress. >__> YAY FOR MINDLESS SLAUGHTER OF DIGITAL MONSTERS!

I got this lovely email today:

And then I checked the ANN article.

....................... OMGGGGG if my freakin' AX reg schedule conflicts with an event I want to go to again...... =_______=!!! I didn't care about the guests that AX'09 had so far but NOW I'M EXCITED!

Even though I DOUUUUBT they'll give out autographs ... I want to draw a picture for them just in case~~~ XD!!!

I decided to do the rough draft of my art project pic in MS Paint. I started working on this last night, went to bed at 1AM, then I woke up at 10AM, played It's a Wonderful World until 12PM, worked more on my picture, and was satisfied(???) at 5:30PM.
edit: LOL JUST KIDDING. After taking a closer look, I noticed it's very unclear what's happening to the person's hand so I made that clearer. >_>; And changed some other stuff. God, I'm indecisive.

WHY DOES IT TAKE ME THIS LONG TO COME UP WITH A ROUGH DRAFT!? *HEADDESK*
Oh yeah. I suck at making concepts flow out of my head. >8| I had some difficulty NOT making left-person look anime-ish. Lollol.

Now if somebody can lend me a projector so I can freaking save my time eyeballing and drawing the whole thing on sheets of watercolor paper....... *SOB*

BTW,
I just happened to find out that Youtube had legal anime/cartoons on it. HUH? So I browsed through the shows, and I got SOOO excited when I found out that JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES and X-MEN EVOLUTION were on it! OMGGGGGGGGGG 8D!!
I watched the first two episodes of Jackie Chan (during Saturday morning, lol irony) and it was so nostalgiiiiiiiiic!!
I also realized Jade and Azula have a striking resemblance. *shudder* It's the pointy long side-bangs! >_>

Spent 3-4 hours whipping up my Anime Expo badge picture because I really don't want to do homework. Yay for being staff!

I also came up with my secooond art project idea! I better not put it off until the last second @#()@)(#. I decided to do a character design of a cyborg-humanoid-program that lives in the internet. He's going to go with this story I just made up 3 days ago (HAHA WHAT?). I'm pretty much going to base my story off of Peter Pan, and make the cyborg the Peter Pan figure. He wants to shut himself in internet-world forever because he thinks real life is for losers. 8D There's going to be some nerd, shut-in person (girl? guy? I dunno) that's going to accidentally meet this guy and get sucked into computer/internet-world.
I wonder who the Lost Boys and Captain Hook would be. XD
Sooo, my picture is going to be the person getting sucked into the computer and the other picture will be cyborg guy pulling the person's arm in. What a naughty kid. :|

Rita got the Japanese version of The World Ends with You (Subarashiki no Sekai) and I am so horribly addicted to it!!
... yet I have two essays, one Japanese report, and an art project to work on.

FINALLY FINISHED MY DARN ART PROJECT. ... okay, actually I didn't finish the last picture. orz I stayed up late for an entire week to get it freakin' done.
I changed the story a lot but I made a big-ass comic about a griffin, woah! I never did anything so ambitious before. o__o;; The comic was 6 pages (around 3-4 times the size of computer paper), and I spent an average of 2 hours on each panel from concept, sketch, to inking. GOOD FREAKIN' JOB, ME. Hence why I became so sleep deprived.
I'll steal Natalie's camera and take pictures of it.

I forgot to mention that two weeks ago, I saw the Dalai Lama in the UCSB's event center for only 20 bucks! Every time I mention that, people keep saying I'm freakishly lucky since they were selling tickets to see him for 300-400 dollars online. o__o He was a pretty funny guy for someone so hugely revered and respected. I imagined him to be more straight-faced for some reason. But we need more humorous people in the world anyway. XD I also sketched His Holiness(?) in my little sketchbook, I should scan it.

And the most important thing I should mention.
WHOOHOO, ANOTHER FIRE IN SANTA BARBARA. And yet ANOTHER state emergency. How many fires have happened when I was in UCSB? Three now? There was the Gap Fire, and that other big fire last November, and now the Jesusita fire. And this counts the SECOND time I saw a huge burning flame in the hills outside the SBCC (Santa Barbara Community College, what a mouthful) animation class window. Yeah, like hell I can concentrate animating with a huge orange ash cloud looming overhead and little bitty helicopters hovering over the city. >_>;
I'm sure the rest of the nation thinks us southern Californians freakin' set ourselves on fire way too often. And to think when I was a kid, I thought California had no problems like tornados and hurricanes besides a bad earthquake once in a blue moon. OTL
The fire is getting pretty scary because there's a lot of people I know that have evacuated or are getting ready to evacuate. I think Isla Vista is pretty safe from the fire though, but we get our share of raining ash.

- Why, thank you whoever made this PV for putting in SIX RUNNING CLIPS all at the same time. NOT. -__-;
- I noticed some pretty interesting cutscenes shown in the clips in the background. There's this one scene where Xion leaves a bunch of shells next to Roxas's bed. HMM.
- NEVERLAND!!! THE ISLAND, AND NOT THE DAMN SHIP! 8D!!! I WANTED THIS EVER SINCE I PLAYED THE FIRST KINGDOM HEARTS, DAMMIT! AND ROXAS FLYING! OMFG. Maybe he'll meet the Lost Boys! <3333 Does this also mean all the other Organization members will fly around with sparkly fairies? XD
- Goofy and Donald are fighting with the Organization?! WTF.
- Xion being the most Mary Sue-iest Mary Sue in Kingdom Hearts I have ever seen. She overtakes Kairi and Namine by a miiiiiiile. But I'll... give her a chance.... *EYETWITCH* And her battle cries are badly voice-acted (unless that was done on purpose o___o)
- Why is Xion's face hidden in the end? Is she bald? XDDD

My current theory about Xion is that she's a physical incarnation of Sora's lost memories. It's the ONLY thing that makes sense to me. Plus, one of his important memories that he lost was all the ones with Kairi so... that could explain Xion's resemblance to her. But does everything Sora loses from himself turn into a walking talking human? orz

WHY CAN'T MAY 30TH COME ANY SOONERRRRRRRRR.

Oh, BTW, I also read Astroboy for my manga class. WOW, I heard about Astro Boy FOREVER but I never was interested in reading it. But now I want to read the whole freaking series. Osamu Tezuka really IS a genius. *bows*

I'm finding it harder and harder to update my Livejournal. orz School, work, hanging out, duuuude. BUSYYYYYYY.
Lately, I've been thinking a lot harder about the art I'm trying to do because of the independent(ish?) art class I'm taking this quarter.

Ranting about art felt very refreshing~

Oh! And Japanese class has been very interesting. We had to pick out a dream job and a company we would like to work in Japan. Of course, I said ANIMATORRRRRRR! But I never thought about which company to work in. FAIL. I like Studio Ghibli and all, but for some reason I'm more interested in television/OVA animation. I randomly picked Production I.G because I knew their animation looked pretty nice. But I didn't know they were internationally recognized. o__o The more I learned about Production I.G, the more I wanted to actually animate in Japan. XD I'LL HAVE TO BECOME FLUENT IN JAPANESE FIRST THOUGH. GAHHH. If I actually, SOMEHOW, SOOOMEHOW got an animation job in a spiffy Japanese company ........ I would probably die from JOYYYY! And I'll brag about it to all my friends. XD
Too bad Disney isn't doing 2-d animation movies anymore (besides Princess and the Frog... please be a hit *CROSSES FINGERS*), or I wouldn't mind staying in America. LE SIGH.

The upcoming anime "Eden of the East" looks so messed up yet SO COOL. XD
I was skimming through Anime Database to check out the new animez because I'm out of the anime news loop. And I found this CRACK ANIME (which just happens to have Honey and Clover art), WTF.

HIII, I've been back from Mammoth for almost a week now. I had tons of fun~~ I didn't take any pictures of my little snow sculptures though. DDD: I made a wolf thingie and a (cat-eared?) Eevee and a little snow man. XD Natalie also had me watch all three of the old Star Wars movies in a row. WOOAH MY BRAIN. I didn't know Lando(?) existed until now. .... that is kind of sad. >_>; BESIDES THAT! My favorite characters were R2D2 and Chewie. 8D <3 <3 <3 And uuuuh... Luke is adorable sometimes, especially around Leia. Aaaand... Han Solo and Leia are the classic Tsundere Couple.
See folks? This is why I suck at summarizing and commenting on movies and books. I never freaking talk about the plot. EVER!

But when we came back from Mammoth, we were greeted by MONSTER MOLD INFESTATION in our bedroom. JOY. We didn't open the windows all the time in the bedroom because we're on the first floor (so insecure :| ) and all the condensation and the humidity made a perfect environment for MOOOOLD. Gross. Natalie was the first person to notice. I had my bed right next to the wall and I put a pillow in the corner. When I was already at home and she was getting ready to leave for spring break, she took out the pillow and LO AND BEHOLD, GROSS MOLD. And then she moved my suitcase, and there was a square-shaped growth of mold right behind it. EEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeew. We moved our mattresses to the living room now, so we're basically having a sleepover in our own living room. What the hell. Oh well, to look on the bright side, we don't have to sit on the carpet when we eat and play videogames... *shot* We talked to the manager and he's going to get it cleaned tomorrow. YAAAAY! I don't know if this is going to cost money though... orz

Aaaaaaaand in other news... Gundam 00 S2 ended last Sunday. Boo. :| No more Gundam 00 Sunday get-togethers with everybody! But there's a movie coming out next April! JUPITER! AHHH!!

WTF I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT CLASSES. Since this entry is long enough as it is (cough), I'll just list them for now~~~
- JAPAN 120C Third year Japanese with Ishizawa-sensei who's subbing for Furukawa-sensei! ANd guess what. HE IS A SELF-PROCLAIMED OTAKU AND HIS FAVORITE MANGA IS NARUTO. NARUTO. HOLY SHIET. He lent me one of his GIGANTIC volumes of Naruto. 8D He automatically became my favorite Japanese teacher evarrrr.
- ART HISTORY 135AA Understanding Manga with Prof. Wattles. I know 7-8 people in my class, LMFAO. I am so lucky that I'm taking a class about freakin' MANGAAAA! We're going to study in-depth about older manga around the 70's such as the ones by Tezuka and such. EEEE <3333!!
- JAPAN 166 Indigenous Movements in Asia with Prof Lewallen. We're going to study Japanese colonialism(?) and tribes such as the Ainu tribe. Sounds pretty spiffy~
- Advanced Drawing ... uuuh it's on Friday, so I dunno what we're doing yet. XD

I haven't updated in forever (as usual)!

I'm currently in the snowy mountains of MAMMOTH!!! YAAAAY! I'm here with Natalie, Kit, and Natalie's parents. I haven't seen snow since I was in elementary school~~~ :DDDDDD I made some snow animals like a wolfie and an Eevee (because that's totally an animal). Yesterday, I watched Corpse Bride, Howl's Moving Castle, and Jungle Book. ANIMATION GALOOOOORE! It's really fun to watch the different styles of animation and the variety of characters people come up with.

Soooo I dunno what we're gonna do now. Maybe hike? I haven't hiked in forever. And Natalie is forcing me to watch Star Wars. DDDD: TORTUUUUURREEEE. No, I'm kidding. I only watched the new Star Wars movies, and everybody says those movies suck.

I somehow, SOMEHOW survived hell week, AKA last week. As I expected, I got 3-4 hours of sleep on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. ... ouch. I suck at time management. orz I got so sleepy during my Wednesday afternoon class that I kept on blacking out every five minutes. I couldn't even doodle in my notes without blacking out in the middle of drawing it. I got some realllyyyy weird squiggles in my notes. XD To make it even better, I was in the front desk. SIGH.

Results of hell week!
- I impressed Sakuragi-sensei with my oral Japanese presentation. I somehow memorized the entire script in my head the night before... how the hell did I do that. XD
- Finished my Japanese sexuality paper in four in the morning and had to take that damn final at 9:30AM. ... siiiiiiiiigh. I thiiink I did okay on both... .__.;
- For my monster drawing final, I did three (even though I was planning two, hahahaha) watercolored storybook pages of my lonely artichoke-looking monster. Apparently everybody LOVED IT. I was afraid they would be "meh" about it. I was freakin' surprised because I did ALL the lineart and coloring in 6-7 hours the night before. o_o.... I'll try to take photos after I get my portfolio back~

WELL, one good thing came out of hell week. I practically have no finals on finals week!! Only had to turn in my art portfolio for monster drawing and turn in a 3-4 page essay to Ukiyo-e. Wewt. I hope I get straight A's this quarterrrr. I'm .01 point away from a 3.75 GPA! I WANT A 3.75, DAMMIT <-- freak

Uhhh so to summarize some other things I've been doing...
- Downloading Vocaloid songs, mainly the ones sung by people. YAY FREE, LEGAL MUSIC. I blame Kit. She sucked me into this. XD
- I finally got Lamento and Togainu no Chi to work on my computer! Thank you Diana-sempai for giving me a copy~~~~~!! Now I can finally read the kanji because my computer has way better resolution than our horrifically blurry TV. >_>;;
- ... uuuh. WATCHING GUNDAM 00 SEASON 2 STILL! Even though it's been pretty much the ONLY anime series I've been following lately, I never talk about it on LJ.... XD

WARNING: Kingdom Hearts fangirling, hohoho.

I just found out Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is going to come out at May 30th! YAAAAAAAY! It's 50 bucks! And as I expected, they are also coming out with a LIMITED EDITION DSi with it. #@()@#)(#@ THE DESIGN IS SOOOO CUUUTE. Mickey, Heartless, and Nobody symbols, KYAAA! And conveniently there is a camera, so that'll fix my camera problems... I think. o_o....
It's 250 bucks though....
so basically I'm forking over 300 dollars near the end of May. BYE-BYE APRIL PAY CHECK!
I'm so lucky that Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is coming out this winter or early next year. >_>

What makes this problematic is that I'm planning to buy those Kingdom Hearts Cloud, Sephiroth, and Riku figures during the spring anime club trip. >____>;;;;;;;; The chance I would find them ALL at the same time is low but YOU NEVER KNOW.

He made a pin-up picture of PRINCE ADAM AKA human!Beast. I was kinda traumatized by human!Beast face when I was a kid, thanks to the underlighting, but now that I think about it he was actually pretty good looking. :|
